This week's episode features a live musical set from Yuri Bakker who is in town as a musician in residence at Cafe Alt. Yuri plays Cafe Alt as part of a series organized by Popdrone starting February 1st. We also caught up with Rolf Klausener to get an update on The Acorn and his other on-going projects at the Manx and Arboretum. We round out the show with a chat with Marc Clairoux, a former gang member who will be taking part in the Ottawa Library’s human library project this weekend.

In this edition, Ryan and Karen take to the airwaves to chat with Jason Pelletier of Spins and Needles to talk about their new endeavour. They also air two interviews by their common co-host, Trevor: first, with Gloria Song of Scary Bear Soundtrack, who are playing their last show on Jan. 16, and second, with Mathieu Fleury, the city councilor behind the drive to bring Monocle editor-in-chief Tyler Brule to Ottawa to make suggestions as to how to fix our city.

Craft beer. The city’s festival scene. Disappearing bookstores. And the inaugural Nuit Blanche.

Those were some of the top stories of 2012, at least according to the various ne’er-do-wells and miscreants that serve as editors here at Apartment613. And you can hear why by tuning into our final Apartment613 Live podcast of the year.

Along with our own mellifluous voices, this week’s podcast also features some of our favourite interviews from the past 12 months — we revisit the closure of Xpress, the controversy over the Nepean Redskins junior football team, and the new album by local alt-rockers The Soiree. And over on the old Apt613 victrola, Ryan and I cue up some of the year’s best and catchiest tunes.

And remember: if you can’t wait for the podcast, catch us live at 9 p.m. Wednesday evenings on CHUO 89.1 FM. Bring it on, 2013.
